Bachelor of Physiotherapy is a 4 ½ Year professional course that will open doors for students who are looking to pursue a career in the rehabilitation of people who suffer from physical disabilities, immobility and pain.

Students will undergo the study of following subjects during their course of study; Human Anatomy, Human Physiology, Psychology, Sociology, Biophysics, Biochemistry, Pathology and Microbiology for Physiotherapists, Biomechanics, Exercise therapy, Electrotherapy, Physiotherapy for Orthopedic, Neurological, Cardio-respirtory, Pediatrics, Geriatrics, Obstetrics, Gynecological, Sports injuries, General Medical and Post Surgical conditions, Rehabilitation, Community Medicine, Evidence Based Practice.

Scope ofPhysiotherapy

Physiotherapy as a profession has its vital role in various disciplines like Orthopedics, Neurology, Pediatrics, Sports Medicine, Cardiorespiratory, General medicine, General Surgical conditions and Community Based Rehabilitation.

Physiotherapists have a wide range of opportunities to work in India and abroad clinically and academically. There are various openings in hospitals, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, fitness clubs, sports teams, government and nongovernmental organizations, physiotherapy teaching colleges and universities.

Physiotherapists help patients improve their physical functions. They examine the patients by testing their muscle strength, joint range of motion, movement, sensory and neurological functions, coordination, balance, flexibility, postural screening, movement analysis, cardiorespiratory endurance and other evaluations.

Based on the outcome a treatment plan is drawn up. It may comprise of instrumental or non-instrumental intervention. Physiotherapists perform various hands-on techniques like soft tissue mobilization and joint mobilization skills to reduce pain, increase joint motion and soft tissue flexibility. Therapeutic exercises help to restore strength, movement, balance and coordination and finally to a complete functional recovery. A physiotherapist reviews the conditions and monitors the progress to aid recovery. Physiotherapists are an integral part of the rehabilitation team comprising of physicians, social workers, occupational therapists, nurses, vocational counsellors, psychologists, prosthetists and Orthotists.
